The wound which caused the death of the wallaby. You can see from the protruding bones that the fatal wound was caused by a sharp instrument - possibly a cleaver or hatchet. However the bones are splintered, and from the jagged edge pf the cut one can see that several blows were used to sever the head from the body.

Another view of the fatal wound. If you look closely you can see the trachea which has been severed at one of the rings, suggesting that the head was pulled off the body after the spinal cord was severed

Peeling back the skin from the bottom half of the body

Removing the lungs to check for chemical traces such as those which have been reported from victims of so-called "Cattle Mutilation Syndrome"

Removing the remaining forelimb to check the condition of the shoulderblade

The bruising on the lower spine just above the pelvis shows that the wallaby was felled with a single blow, probably from a rounded object like a baseball bat
